Growing up in Maine, I often heard the words “You can’t get there from here.” Working in the field of prevention, these words often echo in my mind. Luckily, my experience tells me that when we are working together we can in fact build a world free from sexual abuse, assault, and harassment. Using the principles of evaluation has actually helped me find a clear pathway to get to my next destination. With this in mind, we updated our foundational program evaluation course with new tips and examples.
Here is what you can expect in our course, “How do We Get There From Here: Evaluating Primary Prevention Initiatives”:
- An introduction to evaluation that includes some basic knowledge about evaluation planning and practice with a specific focus on evaluation as it relates to health equity and the primary prevention of sexual violence.
- Two modules to explore. The first one contains foundational information and basics for how to begin planning an evaluation. The second module focuses on which kinds of data to collect, how to make sense of those data, and how to act on them.
- Examples of how to put evaluation into practice for primary prevention strategies.
- Questions to consider for increasing community member participation in evaluation.
- A list of resources to assist you with next steps.
- Links to tools from NSVRC’s Evaluation Toolkit to assist you with implementing your evaluation.
If you are looking to explore your path to prevention or just want a refresher course on how evaluation can support your work, check out our course: How Do We Get There From Here: Evaluating Primary Prevention Initiatives.
